We were pleased to announce the release of BrowZine with this press release today:
ST PAUL, MN – September 25, 201 – Third Iron, LLC, a leading library technology company, announced today the release of BrowZine, a new app for the iPad. BrowZine combines articles from databases to create full journals, organizes them on shelves arranged by subject, and delivers a reading experience optimized for the iPad. With BrowZine, users can easily find journals made available by their library, browse titles of interest, and read individual articles or the complete journal.
“We received terrific feedback from libraries during our beta period earlier this year,” said John Seguin, President of Third Iron. “As libraries have replaced print with electronic journal access, BrowZine has proven to be an ideal way for researchers to find and read their favorite journals to stay on top of current trends in their fields. BrowZine interacts with existing library resources, giving users a single app to access most scholarly journals, regardless of publisher.”
“BrowZine extends the library’s reach by delivering content to the devices patrons are using, in a way they want to use it,” says Karl Becker, CTO. “We see BrowZine as a valuable way for libraries to increase use of existing resources. With our integration into services like Zotero and Dropbox, BrowZine fits well into the research workflow.” Libraries may brand the app with their own identity and monitor mobile use.
BrowZine is available and may now be downloaded from the Apple App Store at http://itunes.com/apps/browzine. An introductory video is online at http://thirdiron.com/browzine-ipad-app/video/. Users may either request a trial for their institution or select “Open Access Publishers Only” for instant access. Additional information on Third Iron and BrowZine is available at www.thirdiron.com.
