The focus of everyone at Third Iron is on creating the best products we can so it is very rewarding to start the New Year having received several compliments on BrowZine.
Librarians at universities are helping to spread the word about their experience with some great tweets. Jhkrivickas said hello with “Hey BrowZine! L.O.V.E. you…”; carliebrary let us know, “I think the app is genius, great UI”; and WelchLibrary started their subscription with a tweet “We think it will be a hit.” (So far the usage at Welch indicates it already is.)
And speaking of Twitter, Michele Kraft, Senior Medical Librarian at the Cleveland Clinic Alumni Library, recently tweeted an open invitation for recommendations on library applications. My response led to a great discussion, then Michele posted an overview of BrowZine on her blog, Krafty Librarian. On it, Michele writes:
“To say I was blown away was an understatement. Finally now after all these years, people will be able to browse the table of contents easily AND connect to the article via the library’s subscription in an extremely easy way. The concept of my own personal bookshelf is great. The ability to export the articles is essential and thankfully is easy to do with Browzine.”
To say that we appreciate her review is an understatement! Check it out in full here.
It was been equally gratifying to hear from end users. We received this note from an MD/PhD Candidate at Johns Hopkins University:
“The BrowZine interface is extremely practical and intuitive and is a much less cumbersome experience than browsing journals via the welch library website which is especially important on the iPad. I also appreciated that I was able to open papers in Dropbox as I like to save all my papers there for future reading.”
So we start the New Year with a big thank you to all of the libraries, librarians, students, faculty and researchers using BrowZine. Your feedback is very helpful, please keep it coming. We are looking forward to a great 2013!
