The combination of BrowZine and OpenAthens to create enhanced authenticated browsing experience
OpenAthens and Third Iron have announced a strategic reseller partnership to enhance user-experience by providing a broad visual browsing search experience through BrowZine with integrated authentication through OpenAthens.
The reseller partnership stems from the companies already having a set of common customers, therefore combining these two successful technologies will ensure an enhanced and seamless experience for their end-users.
OpenAthens is a leading identity and access management solution granting access to essential resources for users including academic researchers, students, doctors, nurses, and beyond. Available as a mobile app or web-based service, BrowZine combines articles from databases to create full journals, and organizes them on shelves arranged by subject. With BrowZine, users can easily find journals made available by their library, browse titles of interest, and read individual articles or the complete journal.
Jon Bentley, Head of Product Marketing at OpenAthens commented, “OpenAthens has long admired the innovation and execution of the BrowZine service. Third Iron’s deep understanding of library technology and their international community of customers is a strong fit with OpenAthens customers and services. Working together, our technologies enable the end-user to search, locate and then authenticate and access the information they need without breaking their journey. Both companies are committed to removing barriers and improving access to information.”
“Third Iron is thrilled to be working with OpenAthens as a reseller partner” said John Seguin, President and Chief Librarian at Third Iron, LLC. “Third Iron’s BrowZine currently provides the premiere way for academic, hospital and corporate libraries around the world to provide seamless access to their journal subscriptions. Libraries without a remote authentication solution, however, cannot utilize the full power that BrowZine can bring to their users. By offering OpenAthens products along with BrowZine, Third Iron can provide a seamless integrated solution to clients struggling with their existing authentication mechanism or lacking one entirely.”
Mabel A. Trafford, Medical Library Director, Tripler Army Medical Center says, “We set up our OpenAthens access over five years ago and we feel that this is one of the best decisions we have ever made with relation to access to our Medical Library resources. And now with the BrowZine app, lots of people are asking for OpenAthens accounts.”
In an OpenAthens’ recent customer survey, another organisation relayed: “Our patrons find OpensAthens to be easy to use, and now that they can pair it with BrowZine access everyone wants to have it.”
